The Scouting Division
Director Agnes Krup and scouts Stefanie Diaz and Molly Strasser read and evaluate a wide range of fiction from important new literary voices to potential bestsellers as well as nonfiction of every type, from current affairs to memoirs to self-help. We also evaluate children’s and young adult literature. Literary agencies, all the major houses, university presses and independent publishers are covered in our search for those books with strong translation potential.
Sanford Greenburger began recommending American literature to his friends and colleagues in European publishing from the agency’s inception, making us the first professional book scouts. Today, SJGA remains one of the major international scouting agencies in New York. Our clients include some of the most distinguished publishers: Rowohlt Verlag (Germany), Grasset & Fasquelle (France), Einaudi and Stile Libero (Italy), Aschehoug (Norway), Editora Record (Brazil), Black, Inc. (Australia), and Metaixmio (Greece). We are the U.S. representatives for literary agencies in Asia, and have worked for decades with the Tuttle-Mori Agency in Japan, and more recently with the Eric Yang Agency, Tuttle-Mori in Thailand, and the Andrew Nurnberg China offices in Beijing and Taipei.
Scouts work solely on behalf of their international clients. We are not agents, and we cannot evaluate or respond to unsolicited material. |
